My internet friend Regina who I came to visit for 10 days. It quickly turned into more of a friendship. We’re in a longterm relationship now. She visited me in September in Vancouver, and later she’ll visit me again this December. :)

Kakapo (Strigops habroptilus)
The heaviest parrot, they can grow up to 9 lbs due to their unique ability to accumulate body fat. These flightless birds are critically endangered and are only found in New Zealand. As of February 2012, only 126 living individuals are known.

These legless amphibians are known to shed their outer layer of skin for feeding their young. The skin is nutrient-rich, like the milk of animals, and its removal does not seem to harm the mother. Pictured above is Boulengerula taitanus, native toAfrica.
